How We Protect Your Information
Caring for your family includes caring for the information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Who We Are
Morgan's Funeral Home is a family-owned funeral service provider based at Wellington Street, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Morgan's Funeral Home. “You” refers to any visitor to our website and any family member or representative who contacts us, places an enquiry, or instructs us to provide funeral services.
This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information, and how we comply with the Jamaica Data Protection Act, 2020.
Information We Collect
We only collect information that we genuinely need in order to serve your family with dignity and care. This may include:
- Information about you — your name, address, phone number, email, and your relationship to the deceased.
- Information about your loved one — full name, date of birth, date of death, place of birth, last residence, family members, obituary text, photographs, and any wishes or instructions left by the deceased.
- Service and arrangement details — the type of service you have chosen, casket or urn selection, venue, transport, music, and any other personal preferences.
- Sensitive information — in some cases we may handle medical certificates of cause of death, religious preferences, and other information required to fulfil legal and pastoral obligations.
- Website usage data — basic technical information such as your IP address, device type, and pages visited, collected to keep the site running well and secure.
- Messages and submissions — the content of contact forms, service enquiries, family intake forms, guestbook entries, obituary submissions, and photographs you upload.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- arrange and deliver the funeral and memorial services your family has chosen;
- communicate with you about arrangements, scheduling, and aftercare;
- publish obituaries, service notices, and tributes on this website and on announcement platforms (radio, TV, newspaper) where you have asked us to;
- comply with our legal and regulatory obligations in Jamaica, including registration of death, permits, and any record-keeping required by health or burial authorities;
- improve our website and the quality of the services we offer;
- respond to questions, complaints, and feedback, and to keep records of our interactions for quality and training purposes.
Who We Share Information With
We treat your information as a private matter for your family. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we never share it for marketing purposes outside of Morgan's Funeral Home.
We may share information with the following, only as far as necessary:
- Service partners — clergy, cemeteries, crematoria, florists, printers, transportation providers, and broadcasters engaged on your behalf to deliver the arrangements you have requested.
- Government and regulatory bodies — including the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Registrar General's Department, parish councils, and other authorities where the law requires it (for example, in relation to death registration, exhumation permits, or repatriation).
- Professional advisors — our auditors, lawyers, and insurers, bound by confidentiality.
- Technology providers — the secure hosting, email, and analytics providers we use to run this website. We choose providers who maintain appropriate security and data protection standards.
Photographs, Obituaries, and Tributes
When your family asks us to publish an obituary, service notice, or photograph, we treat that content as intended for public viewing on this website and, where requested, on broadcast or print media. Please only submit photographs and tribute text that you have the right to share.
Guestbook entries and tributes submitted by other members of the public are moderated before they appear. We reserve the right to decline or remove any entry that is disrespectful, unlawful, or that the family asks us to remove.
If you would like us to remove or correct an obituary, photograph, or tribute that relates to your loved one, please contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site functioning, to remember preferences, and to understand in aggregate how the site is used. We do not use advertising cookies. If your browser is set to refuse cookies, the website will still work, but some features may not behave as expected.
Your Rights
Under the Jamaica Data Protection Act, 2020, you have the right to:
- be told what personal information we hold about you;
- request a copy of that information;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it;
- object to or restrict certain uses of your information, including publication of obituaries and tributes;
- withdraw consent at any time where we have relied on your consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond as quickly as we are able, and within the time required by law.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep service records, obituaries, and accounting records for as long as we are required to by Jamaican law and by our professional obligations. Other information is kept only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.
How We Keep Your Information Secure
We treat your information with the same care we extend to your family. Our systems are protected by industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, restricted access for staff, and ongoing monitoring of our hosting providers. Despite these measures, no system on the internet is perfectly secure; if we ever become aware of a breach that affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Children's Information
Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Information about a deceased child is only ever collected with the consent and involvement of a parent, guardian, or other family member responsible for the arrangements.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our services or in the law. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review the policy occasionally so that you remain informed.
