What do I do when death occurs?

If a person dies at home or at work and has medical history, the first call must be made to the police and Morgan's Funeral Home. Be sure to notify the doctor.

If a post mortem is to be conducted by the government, contact Morgan's to pick up on the day of post mortem and arrange final services.

Where do I register the death of a loved one?

After receiving the medical certificate of cause of death it must be taken to the Registrar General Department (RGD) and a burial order will be issued. If it is an autopsy case the burial order will be issued on the day of autopsy.

Where do I obtain a death certificate for my loved one?

Depending on where the person died, you can apply for a death certificate at the same time as receiving the burial order.

If my loved one died overseas, do I need to register their death in Jamaica?

Yes. If the person is a Jamaica national, family is to register their death at the Registrar General Department.

Does Morgan's ship and receive remains (repatriation)?

Yes, we ship and receive from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Caribbean. For any other countries please contact us.

Does Morgan's conduct pre-arrangements?

Does Morgan's have a chapel?

No. If families decide to bury at one of the private cemeteries i.e. Dovecot or Meadowrest, they do provide a chapel for families to use.

Does Morgan's offer services island wide?

Yes. We do island wide pick up and conduct services in any parish.

Can I build my own vault?

Families building a vault on family plot need to contact their local parish council in order to obtain permission for burial.
